Doonbeg Golf Club may be the last true links course to be built in either Ireland or Britain. The course, opened in July 2002, was designed by Greg Norman, chosen for his design skill and his philosphy of routing courses to fit existing terrains. The site is located among a long stretch of crescent-shaped beach and dunes, with the ocean visible from most of the course.
A terrific links challenge with the first nine
relatively flat holes set on a cliff top. The
back nine is more demanding where all
holes are played through sand dunes. Arnold Palmer designed, Tralee is a true gem!
